What Are Push Notifications?
CaseIndex can send real-time push notifications to your phone or browser whenever a patient books an appointment — whether through the public booking page, the website widget, or directly by your receptionist.
The notification shows you:
- The patient's name
- The clinic where the appointment was booked
- The day, date, and time of the appointment
Mobile Push (Android & iOS)
Delivered directly to your phone's notification tray, even when the app is closed.
Browser Push (Web)
Delivered to any browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) on your computer if you've logged into the web dashboard.
Enabling Notifications on Mobile
Open the CaseIndex App
When you first sign in, the app will ask permission to send you notifications. Tap Allow. If you tapped "Don't Allow" at the time, you can still enable it from your phone's Settings → Apps → CaseIndex → Notifications.
Go to Settings → Profile tab → Notification Settings
Find the Notifications toggle in your profile settings. Make sure it's switched ON.
You're all set!
From now on, any new booking — whether made by reception, by a patient online, or via the website widget — will trigger an instant push notification to your phone.
Enabling Notifications on the Web Dashboard
Open the CaseIndex web dashboard at app.caseindex.in
Look for the notification bell or settings toggle
A browser permission prompt will appear. Click Allow.
Keep the browser tab open (or pin it)
Browser push notifications are delivered to your browser even when CaseIndex is not the active tab, but your browser must be running. Consider pinning the CaseIndex tab.
Who Gets Notified?
All staff members who have enabled notifications on their device will receive alerts for new bookings. Each person controls their own notification preference — turning it off for one person doesn't affect others.
Best Practice: Enable on Reception Devices
We recommend enabling notifications on the receptionist's phone or computer as a minimum. This way, no booking is ever missed even if the doctor is busy with a patient.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Not receiving notifications on phone | Check phone Settings → Apps → CaseIndex → Notifications is set to "Allow". Also check that your phone's Do Not Disturb mode is off. |
| Not receiving browser notifications | Check your browser's site permissions for app.caseindex.in — Notifications should be "Allowed", not "Blocked". |
| Notifications stopped working after some time | Open the app/web dashboard to refresh your device token. Tokens occasionally expire and are refreshed on login. |
